Eco Extension, Wirksworth

The approach on this scheme was to create a mixture of traditional and contemporary materials and to use a splash of colour to brighten the street scene. Inspiration has been taken from the ‘Blue House’ on Wash Green, Wirksworth, which is within the same conservation area, and received good acclaim. The sedum roof sits within a short parapet and is a clever way to produce a good and unintrusive aesthetic, particularly from the upstairs windows. Adding natural habitat in small places can be very beneficial to the environment.

Overall, the zinc cladding and clever interior design has given this cottage a cosy and contemporary twist.
